Werner Tscholl
Werner Tscholl is a distinguished Italian architect known for his ability to integrate contemporary design into historical and natural contexts. After earning a degree in architecture from the University of Florence in 1981, he established his own firm in Morter, in the Vinschgau Valley (BZ), where he develops projects that blend innovation with respect for tradition and the landscape. His work has been widely published in Italian and international architectural journals and books and exhibited in major venues worldwide, including the Venice and Buenos Aires Architecture Biennales. In 2013, Electa dedicated a monograph to his work, Werner Tscholl Architetture. Among his many accolades, he received the Architetto Italiano award in 2016 and the IN/ARCH Triveneto Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. From 2023 to 2024, he held the Adalberto Libera Chair of Excellence in Trento. In 2024, he was honored with the Architecture and Landscape Award at the Buenos Aires Biennale.

Werner Tscholl’s architecture is deeply rooted in its natural and social context. His works make a significant contribution to the characterization of a place, particularly by exploring its atmosphere to provide an architectural response.
A key focus of Tscholl’s work is the relationship between the new and the existing, referring both to historical buildings and the surrounding environment. These themes, executed with consistency and credibility, give rise to works that establish a dialogue with their places of origin. The buildings are crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, personally overseen by Tscholl throughout all project phases, from conception to construction management. This approach is made possible by a small and highly reliable team of internal and external collaborators, allowing the architect to maintain maximum control over his work.
